NEW NISSAN CABSTARS KEEP NIJJAR DAIRIES COOL

Acton-based Nijjar Dairies Ltd t/a Freshways has been using Nissan Cabstar trucks to deliver milk to Greater London and outlying areas since 1994.  As part of Nijjar Dairies’ ongoing fleet upgrade and expansion, it has taken delivery of 15 new Nissan Cabstars, making a total of 26 new Cabstars added to the fleet over the past few months.

The new Cabstar trucks were supplied by West London Nissan A refrigeration unit was added to a standard medium wheelbase 3.5 tonne GVW Cabstar chassis by vehicle converters GRP Westbury Ltd

Sliding side doors provide easy access to the refrigerated unit to facilitate loading and unloading, thus reducing the time the milk is out of cold storage.

Bali Nijjar, operations director of Nijjar Dairies, says: “We strive to offer our customers quality, value and service, so it’s very important that our milk is delivered on time and in perfect condition.  The new Cabstars we had delivered last year have proved to be very reliable and the refrigeration unit keeps the milk chilled at optimum temperature throughout its journey.   Our drivers find them as comfortable to drive as a car and easy to manoeuvre around busy London streets.”

“The Cabstar lends itself well for Nijjar Dairies’ specific requirements,” comments Phil Cripps, Nissan’s Special Vehicle Operations Manager.  “With a GVW of 3.5 tonnes, the

medium wheelbase chassis can accommodate a refrigerated unit, but still offer a
1200 kg payload.  The new Cabstar has a small turning circle, making it easily manoeuvrable in tight spaces.”

Mark Hamilton, LCV Area Fleet Manager, Nissan adds: “With its revised front suspension and improved gearbox, the new Cabstar offers a smooth and comfortable ride for both fast motorway driving, or when negotiating busy London roads.”

Much of Nissan’s sales growth in 2004 was down to one in four sales having undergone specialist conversions to meet the exacting needs of corporate customers, like Freshways Dairies.  Nissan has a dealer network of over 220 dealers who can supply LCVs, 50 of which are Specialist Business Centres. Nissan also has a range of body converters to specify, design and build bespoke LCV Nissans tailored to meet end user requirements.
