FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
29 September 2004
MURANO AND 350Z ROADSTER PRICES
On 15 October, Nissan dealers will open the order books for the Murano and the 350Z Roadster. Just one version of the Murano will be on sale priced at £29,800. The vehicle is so well equipped that options are virtually limited to the choice of colour. And like its coupe twin, there will be two versions of the 350Z Roadster available – the standard model priced at £26,000 and the ‘GT Pack’ at £28,500.
Murano customers will get first crack of the whip because the order books open at 9.00am and later the same day at, you guessed it, 3.50pm, dealers will open the order books for the 350Z Roadster. Deliveries start from March 2005 but numbers are limited, so anyone who wants one will have to be quick.
Murano
Powered by the same 3.5-litre V6 engine as the 350Z Murano drivers will enjoy effortless performance, complemented by Nissan’s revolutionary XTronic Continuously Variable Transmission.
The use of a six-speed CVT in the Murano will be a unique feature in its segment. Indeed, it is an industry-leading innovation, building on Nissan’s reputation as a pioneer in this area. CVT technology is traditionally found in vehicles with low power and torque outputs, so by combining it with a high power, high torque engine in the Murano, Nissan has demonstrated its renowned technological prowess in this area.

The CVT ensures that the engine is always at the optimum torque level, resulting in linear and smooth acceleration with good pick up at low speed. Drive to the wheels is fed through the latest version of the ALL MODE 4x4 system, as used on the X‑TRAIL. It includes ESP+ for added stability, which is linked to an active brake limited slip differential. This is ideal for driving in conditions of variable traction, such as snow, where the transmission sends the power to the wheels with the most grip.
In addition to the unique CVT gearbox, “Birdview” satellite navigation, leather upholstery, air-conditioning and a seven-speaker Bose audio system will all be standard equipment on the Murano.
350Z Roadster
The
main feature of the 350Z Roadster is its automatic roof which takes less than
20 seconds to raise or lower. It’s very
simple to operate. With the ignition on,
the car in neutral and your foot on the brake, you simply release a latch on
the roof and hold down the button on the dash.
When lowered, the roof folds away under a lightweight tonneau cover in
front of the boot lid. It’s the same
simple operation to raise the roof.
Closing the latch operates a triple locking system which secures the
roof to the windscreen header rail in three places.
Standard equipment on the 350Z Roadster is identical to its coupe twin but with an additional option unique to the new model: Alezan leather and ventilated net seats available on the ‘GT Pack’.
When the order books open on 15 October, customers will have to go into their local Nissan dealership where the features of each car can be more comprehensively explained. When the order is placed, a deposit of £2000 is handed over and a number in the waiting list is allocated by head office. The customer will be sent a confirmation of his or her order and will also receive regular updates from Nissan about the progress of their car.

Don’t
forget, when Nissan opened its order books for the 350Z coupe last year, all
450 cars were sold out in 58 minutes.
So, don’t be surprised if you see a row of tents appearing outside Nissan
dealerships across the country in early October.
