NISSAN QASHQAI SCOOPS DIESEL CATEGORY WIN AT SCOTTISH CAR OF THE YEAR AWARDS

The Nissan QASHQAI has been named Scottish Diesel Car of the Year 2007, its second award in as many months and its third since it went on sale in March.  The award was presented at a ceremony held at the St Andrews Bay Hotel, on Friday 26 October.

Commenting on the win, President of the Association of Scottish Motoring Writers Stephen Park said: “Our diesel champ was also a runner up in another category and it’s a car that has surprised everyone who’s driven it. Taking an unconventional approach to family motoring, this newcomer may be different but it’s also hugely desirable and has brought numerous new buyers to the brand.

“Whether you opt for the small 1.5 option or the livelier 2.0 offering, both of these smooth diesel engines are clean, frugal and refined.

“Judges were also impressed by the British-built QASHQAI’s quality, interior design, trim choice and the availability of four-wheel drive as an option.”

The QASHQAI was also short-listed in the Family category, and the Nissan X-TRAIL was named as runner-up in the SUV category.
