NISSAN’S STAR VAN KEEPS GASWORKS ON THE ROAD

Nissan Motor (GB) Ltd has secured a contract to provide Gasworks, the South’s leading family run gas company, with five Primastars. All fully sign written, the 1.9dCi 100ps SE grade vehicles are used by technicians travelling around the South to carry out repairs and installations of household appliances, central heating and plumbing.

Gasworks made the decision to change the supplier of its fleet of repair vehicles after it was decided that its previous vehicles did not offer the appropriate load carrying capacity for the company’s needs. Ashley House, Director, Gasworks comments: “We entered into discussions with Nissan at the beginning of 2003 and were impressed with not only the vehicle offering, but the levels of service.”

He continued: “Our final decision to switch to the Primastar came after we had the opportunity to use a demonstrator model. We have now taken delivery of five vehicles which are all on the road, ensuring we can continue to meet the high service levels that we are renowned for – the fuel economy of the vehicle was also a major deciding factor for us.”

Gasworks consulted their drivers regarding their minimum requirements before finally choosing a vehicle and it was decided that the vehicles needed power assisted steering, central locking, an alarm and a rear parking sensor – all of which feature on the Primastar.

Dave Murfitt, Fleet Sales Director of Nissan Motor (GB) said: “The Primastar has proven to be an extremely popular vehicle thanks to its excellent specification, load carrying capacity and competitive price and has been an excellent addition to our range since its launch just over a year ago.”

The Primastar is one of the latest vans to join the Nissan range and the first to have a rear-parking sensor fitted as standard equipment. With five cubic metres of loadspace the Primastar can cope with most loads that need to be carried.

More like a car than a van to drive, the Primastar has a huge list of standard equipment including power steering, a three-way adjustable driver’s seat, engine immobiliser, driver’s airbag, tinted windows, RDS radio cassette with steering wheel audio controls, remote control central locking, a dash-mounted gear lever for greater cabin floor space, map lamp and intermittent wash-wipe.

The vehicles supplied by West Way Nissan in Southampton will be contract hired on a three year basis through Lex Vehicle Partners.

Notes to editors:

Gasworks is an established family run independent gas company and has been trading in the Hampshire area for 30 years.
