LONDON, UK (May 1st, 2020) – Nissan is supporting Lifeline To The Frontline, a new initiative by British company Lifesaver to provide free portable and rechargeable power packs to NHS staff and frontline workers. The pocket-sized devices, charged with 100% renewable energy, help keep smartphones powered up and connected during worker shifts.

Lifesaver has already provided 1,000 power packs from the first round of fundraising, with devices delivered to hospitals in London, Surrey, Hampshire, Yorkshire and Cheshire.

Members of the public are also invited to show their support by donating the cost of a power pack (£10) through the campaign’s fundraising page.

Archie Wilkinson, co-founder and CEO of Lifesaver, commented; “Many frontline workers are on their feet all day and therefore need a portable power source to stay charged up and connected. We have launched Lifeline To The Frontline to help medical professionals stay in touch with their family and loved ones during their long shifts in the fight against Covid-19.”

Nic Verneuil, marketing director at Nissan Motor (GB) Ltd. added; “Nissan and  Lifesaver have previously partnered on numerous occasions to promote  sustainable solutions. When this opportunity came to assist frontline workers, we didn’t think twice. For those working in high-pressure hospital environments without much downtime, keeping a phone topped up is a challenging but essential need.”

During a recent Government update, chief nursing officer for England, Ruth May shared her experience on how nurses make sure their batteries are fully charged.

Designed originally to support commuters, office workers and event attendees from running out of smartphone power, a Lifesaver power-bank has a capacity of 5000mAh, which will charge most phone models on average size to two full charges. The power banks are recharged using 100% renewable energy.
