NISSAN TO UNVEIL NEW PRIMERA AT 1999 FLEET SHOW

The 1999 Fleet Show signals the beginning of the most intensive new product launch period for Nissan.  Over the next 30 months, more than 12 new models will be launched starting with the distinctive new Nissan Primera which will be unveiled to a number of key fleet customers at the Fleet Show at the NEC in Birmingham.

Alongside the new Primera, a full range of Nissan models will be on display including the award-winning Micra, the sporty 200SX and a full range of 4x4 vehicles.

MICRA

Already boasting the best selling 1.0-litre car in the UK, the Nissan Micra range has recently benefited from specification enhancements, which make Nissan’s award-winning supermini even better value.  Nissan will be displaying a Micra featuring the unique ChromaFlair® paint, first seen on the Primera GT in March 1998.  ChromaFlair® paint gives the impression of colour shifting depending on the angle of the light.  The ChromaFlair® Micra will be available later this year.

ALMERA

The 1999 Nissan Almera range has recently received significant safety enhancements including anti-lock brakes as standard and passenger and side airbags on the range topping GTi. The 143PS 2.0-litre Almera GTi, which will be

on display, strengthens Nissan’s position within the C-sector hot hatch market
offering extremely generous equipment specification at a highly competitive price of  £16,600 on-the-road.  Nissan has recently introduced the Almera Ambition, which offers customers outstanding value and extra sporty appeal from just £10,995 on-the-road.

PRIMERA

The current Primera range, including the Primera Estate, will be on show.  Launched in May 1998, the Primera Estate features sporty styling and versatility which combines the dynamics of the highly acclaimed saloon model while offering one of the largest load spaces in its class.  It also features Nissan’s unique reversible floor for wet or dirty items and increased load height.

In celebration of the Vodafone Nissan Racing Team winning the manufacturer’s and team’s titles in last year’s BTCC championship, the limited edition Nissan Primera 2.0-litre GT, which features unique alloy wheels, full leather upholstery, Momo leather and aluminium gear knob, will add a sporty feel to the Nissan stand.

QX

Nissan’s executive model, the QX, which boasts a long list of safety, security and luxury features, including a third rear headrest, 3-point rear centre seat belt and new style alloy wheels, will add a touch of luxury to the Nissan stand.  Power is provided by V6 engines in both 2.0-litre and 3.0-litre forms and an advanced multi-link beam rear suspension gives a perfect blend of ride comfort and secure handling. The QX was one of the first European Nissans to feature the company’s new side airbag technology, which is standard on the SE and SEL models.

200SX

Nissan's flagship sports coupé, the 200 SX, has an aggressive appearance, reflecting its outstanding performance.  For 1999 the Touring Pack model features a new tan leather interior which replaces black leather.  The new leather trim brightens the cabin while retaining the comfortable driving position.

With a 0-60 mph performance of under seven seconds, a top speed of 146 mph and 200 PS available from its 2.0-litre turbo charged engine, the rear-wheel drive 200 SX has been widely acclaimed as one of the most entertaining coupés on the market.

SKYLINE

The Nissan Skyline GT-R, Japan’s most celebrated supercar, is fast becoming an icon in the UK.  With more than 200 motor racing victories to its credit, the Skyline has dominated Japanese and international motorsport since 1969, including 24 hour race wins at Spa and the Nurburgring.

It features one of the world’s most advanced chassis with computer controlled four-wheel drive, four-wheel steering and limited slip differential, making it one of the best handling and most rewarding cars to drive on either road or track.

Power comes from a 280 PS, 2.6 litre engine. This six cylinder, 24-valve unit has twin turbochargers to give the Skyline blistering performance – 0-60 mph in 5.4 seconds and a (limited) top speed of 155 mph.

All current Nissan Skyline GTRs quickly sold out but a new model has just been launched in Japan.  Plans to officially import the new R34 Nissan Skyline GTR are already underway at NMGB.

TERRANO II

The four-wheel drive Terrano II with optional automatic transmission will be shown on the stand.  Available on the five-door turbodiesel SE and SE Touring models, the Terrano II automatic benefits from the frugality of a highly efficient intercooled diesel engine.

PATROL GR

Nissan’s flagship off-roader, the fifth generation Patrol GR, will also be displayed on the stand.  Highlights include a switchable stabiliser bar to provide maximum on-road stability and minimum roll, with maximum off-road traction and passenger comfort.  Other features include a rear differential lock for extreme off-road driving and an ABS system designed to function perfectly when the rear differential is locked.

LIGHT COMMERCIAL VEHICLES

A range of Nissan’s LCVs will also feature on the Fleet Show stand, including the recently launched Pickup. The Pickup is available in three body styles – single, king and double cabs and a choice of two engines – a 2.5-litre normally-aspirated diesel and a 2.5-litre turbodiesel.  Both four-wheel drive and two-wheel drive models are available.
