FRANKFURT DEBUT FOR NISSAN SPORTY 'CYPACT'
3L/100KM CONCEPT
Nissan’s new millennium concept, the 3-litre/100km sports coupe 'Cypact', will debut at the 1999 Frankfurt Motorshow on Tuesday 14 September.
The compact Cypact aims to solve today’s motoring paradox by combining a dynamic and enjoyable driving experience with a so-called 'three-litre' super-economy engine for substantially reduced environmental impact compared with conventional sports cars.
With a further emphasis placed on promoting a safe, comfortable and stress free driving environment, Cypact helps the driver focus on fun.
The backbone of this concept is Nissan's next-generation turbo-charged diesel engine which delivers high power and torque together with exceptionally low levels of fuel consumption and emissions.
The new, four-cylinder NEO Di (Nissan Ecology Oriented Direct injection) engine is capable of using just 3.4 litres of fuel to travel 100km, with CO2 emissions no more than 90g/km - confirming the Cypact as a so-called 'three litre car'.

Responsive as well as clean, the engine produces 55kW (75PS) at 4,200rpm and maximum torque of 160Nm at only 2,000rpm - ample output to deliver Nissan's traditional sporty driving response.
In order to promote a more convenient and stress-free driving experience, the Cypact features a fully integrated and Intelligent Transport System (ITS) package. This powerful real-time information system helps the driver avoid the frustration of traffic delays, adverse weather conditions and so on, and is capable of providing additional detailed route and destination information.
Guided by Nissan's 'Triple Safety' concept, which extends the conventional principles of active and passive safety, the Cypact gives peace of mind to its passengers – the final ingredient for fun on the roads next millennium.
