NISSAN LAUNCHES NEW LPG PRIMERA WITH FULL

MANUFACTURER WARRANTY

Nissan has launched a range of LPG Primera models to meet the demand from drivers and companies alike that want to take advantage of the cost and environmental benefits of gas power.

The conversion is available on the four, five door and estate versions of the 1.8 SE Primera and most importantly carries a full three-year/60,000 mile manufacturer warranty.

With a litre of LPG costing around 39 pence compared to around 79 pence per litre of unleaded petrol, the Primera driver could reduce his/her annual fuel costs by nearly half. This could reduce still further if you have access to bunkered fuel, which can cost less than 30 pence per litre.

Nissan has qualified for a 70% grant towards the cost of the conversion through Powershift, which leaves the 1.8 Primera SE costing just £1047.83 over and above the price of a standard 1.8 petrol model.  Most importantly for drivers who make regular trips in and out of the new London congestion charging zone, the LPG Primera

is exempt from the £5 daily congestion charge.  Prices for the LPG converted models are:

·         Nissan LPG Primera 4/5 door SE

£16,747

·         Nissan LPG Primera estate SE

£17,747

(costs are inclusive of Powershift grant)

For tax conscious company car drivers the Primera’s 155g/km CO2 emission level means the car will only incur tax at 15% of the list price, the lowest taxable level. A 22% tax-payer will pay just £548.19 in tax per annum for the five door LPG Primera and £581.96 for the estate. A 40% tax-payer will pay £996.72 and £1056.72 respectively for five door and estate models.

The LPG is housed in a 59-litre tank, which sits in the bottom of the boot space in place of the spare wheel. That leaves the boot space intact and allows the rear seats to be split and folded in the normal manner. With an Extra Urban fuel consumption figure of 37.1mpg, the Primera is capable of covering over 480 miles on gas alone. In addition, a 62-litre petrol fuel tank is fitted to the car giving the Primera an impressive range between visits to the fuel station.

Drivers have the option of putting the spare wheel in the boot or opting for an instant tyre repair aerosol, which enables you to inflate the tyre and drive to the nearest tyre centre or dealer for assistance.

The conversion fitted to the Primera is the proven Pharon sequential LPG system. This provides a precision controlled fuel injection ensuring seamless integration with the Primera’s existing engine management system.

MSD Special Vehicle Engineering will undertake all LPG conversions on a special production line in Bletchley. MSD has been working on LPG conversions for the past three years and also has a pedigree as one of the UK’s leading rally car preparation companies.

‘More and more fleets are looking at LPG because of its financial and environmental benefits,’ said Dave Murfitt, Nissan’s Fleet Sales Director.

‘The LPG combines all the benefits of the standard Primera with the addition of a full warrantied LPG conversion. We will evaluate the take-up on this model and then look at expanding our range of LPG models further in the future,’ he added.
