TOP NOTE
The new Nissan NOTE has scooped its first award, taking the inaugural title of best Supermini MPV in the Auto Express New Car Honours. In a new category created for the 2006 Honours, the NOTE fought off stiff competition from the Honda Jazz and the Renault Modus to take the title.
Managing Director, Bill Bosley, who led the noisiest table at the ceremony, collected the award from Auto Express Editor-in-Chief, David Johns and Fifth Gear’s Tiff Needell.
Auto Express’ judges said: “Nissan has been paying attention to developments in the Supermini MPV class, because when the NOTE was launched earlier this year, it set new standards in terms of detail, equipment, space and road manners.
“With its curving roofline, wide track and striking nose and tail lights, it has a more purposeful and appealing appearance than any rival. But it’s the NOTE’s sheer size and thoughtfulness that makes it so family friendly. Bigger than rivals, the sliding seat, flip up tray tables and twin level boot floor are nice design touches that boost flexibility. What’s more, it’s built in Britain and offers exceptional value for money. Young families step this way.”
The NOTE was launched on 1 March this year and is available with a choice of three engines: 1.4 and 1.6-litre petrol and a 1.5-litre dCi. There are three trim levels and prices start from £9990 for the 1.4-litre S.
