• Nissan announces major running series partnership with Great Run Series as Official Automotive Supplier
  • Nissan will bring its Diversity & Inclusion commitments to life at the events in support of both Disabled and LGBTQ+ communities

LONDON (September 8th 2021) – Nissan is proud to announce its sponsorship of the Great Run Series, which includes the Great North Run on 12th September and the Great Manchester Run on 26th September.

Nissan will be the official automotive provider, delivering a fleet of 100% electric Nissan LEAF and e-NV200 to support the events’ environmental sustainability ambitions, as well as eliminating carbon emissions from the support vehicles, to the benefit of runners at the events.

As an organisation, Nissan is committed to achieve carbon neutrality across its operations and the life cycle of its products by 2050. The company recently joined the Race to Zero campaign supported by the United Nations, accelerating the company's full electrification and carbon neutrality goals. In July, Nissan also announced Nissan EV36Zero, a £1 billion flagship Electric Vehicle (EV) Hub creating a world-first EV manufacturing ecosystem which will be centred around its record-breaking Sunderland plant in the UK.

In addition to working with the running series to deliver more sustainable race events, Nissan will also be using the partnership to support its commitments to diversity and inclusion and working towards zero inequality in our society

Nissan will be working with both disabled and LGBTQ+ organisations across the UK to enable greater participation and engagement with under-represented communities at running events.

Andrew Humberstone, Managing Director, Nissan Motor (GB) Ltd.; ‘Nissan is very proud to be supporting one of the UK’s most prestigious running series. Running is already one of the most inclusive and accessible sports, and with Nissan Intelligent Mobility we’re bringing our zero emissions and zero inequality vision to life at these mass participation events. From better air quality to supporting a more inclusive society, we’re delighted to be ‘electrifying’ the Great Run series.’

Paul Foster, CEO at the Great Run Company, said; “We are delighted to welcome Nissan on board as our new Automotive Partner. Like us, Nissan believes people should be proud of, and be able to celebrate, their communities. We're looking forward to working with them to engage an even wider audience in our events.”

Over 208,000 European LEAF customers and 42,000 e-NV200 owners have joined Nissan, the pioneer in mass-market electric vehicles, as it continues its commitment to electrification.
