TWO NEW TERRANOS FOR ‘99

Nissan has announced two additions to the Terrano II range for 1999 – a five-door 2.7TD X-treme and a three-door 2.7TD SE with automatic transmission, both available immediately. These models will strengthen an already highly successful range. Nissan sold 3,560 Terrano IIs in 1998 – an increase of 12.4 per cent over 1997.

Terrano II X-treme

The entry-level Terrano II X-treme was first launched as a three-door version in June 1997 with both 2.4i and 2.7 TD engines and has been highly successful.

The seven-seater, five-door X-treme is powered by 2.7 turbo-diesel engine and features body-coloured bumpers, front and rear electric windows, driver’s airbag, front seatbelt pretensioners and a third row of seats.  Four colours are available  - Tropical Green, Intense Blue, Berry Red and Peridot Green.

The five-door X-treme is aggressively priced at £20,480 on-the-road. This makes it the least expensive, seven-seat off-roader on the market, by a margin of more than £4000.

Terrano II SE automatic

Nissan has also launched a three-door Terrano II 2.7TD SE, with a four speed automatic transmission. The five-door model, which was launched last year

with this gearbox, has been widely praised for its performance and motorway cruising refinement. An excellent response from Terrano II buyers has encouraged Nissan to extend the availability of this transmission.

It is available as part of an option with ABS, which costs £1,450 and takes the on-the-road price of the three door to £21,445. Standard features include a driver’s airbag, air-conditioning, electric windows and alloy wheels.

The transmission features a manual overdrive function and a three-way automatic mode control, which allows performance to be adjusted between sporty, normal and winter driving.

The 2.7-litre, turbo-charged diesel engine which powers this model develops 125PS at 3600rpm and 205lb ft of torque at just 2000rpm, giving excellent flexibility and available performance both on- and off-road.

Like all Nissans, the Terrano II is covered by Nissan Assure, which includes three-year or 60,000-mile mechanical warranty, three-year paint warranty and six-year perforation corrosion protection.  Twelve months roadside assistance – operated in conjunction with the RAC – is also included.
