• Nissan Micra and GT-R win used small car and used sports car of the year respectively at Car Dealer Magazine Used Car Awards 2019
  • Awards held at the Brewery, London, on November 25 with television presenter and host of the evening Mike Brewer handing over the award

Nissan received double honours at the Car Dealer Magazine Used Car Awards 2019, with the Micra awarded Used Small Car of the Year and the GT-R Used Sports Car of the Year.

The awards, held at the Brewery, London, on November 25, celebrate the best businesses, people and cars in the used sector with the winners judged by the Car Dealer Magazine team and television personality Mike Brewer.

However, in the best used car categories, the finalists were narrowed down using data from Auto Trader UK, for days to sell and desirability, and residual values from Cap HPI, both at the three-years and 30,000 miles mark.

The latest generation of Micra was praised for its high-quality finish and the spacious interior, setting it apart from competitors in its segment. The judges also commented on its high level of on-board technology, such as Lane Intervention, Around View Monitor camera system, both systems usually found on larger Nissan models, and the BOSE Personal Audio System.

Founder of Car Dealer Magazine James Baggott said: “The Nissan Micra was the clear winner in the Used Small Car of the Year category for 2019. It’s a supermini dealers up and down the country simply adore. Many tell us it is popular with drivers at each end of the age spectrum in particular – younger and older motorists. It does very well in terms of residual values and disappears from dealers’ forecourts very quickly.”

Meanwhile, the GT-R has continued to move off dealer forecourts almost as fast as its 0-60mph time of 2.7 seconds, and its great styling, handling, and performance make it a great used sports car buy.

Baggott added: “We love the Nissan GT-R at Car Dealer Magazine. Its distinctive Japanese style, impressive levels of performance and impeccable track-going credentials mark it out as a true winner and a top performer in the used car stakes.”

Collecting the award, Matt Duncan, Used Car Manager at Nissan Motor (GB) Limited said: “It’s an honour to pick up not one but two awards on behalf of Nissan tonight. They’re a testament to our dealer network who work tirelessly to ensure vehicles are prepared to a very high standard and customers get the best advice when choosing either a new or used model.”
