NISSAN SPOTLIGHTS VERSATILE LCV’S AT SHOW

The CV Show 2007 plays host to the full constellation of Nissan’s light commercial stars including the premiere of the new Primastar Crew Van.

Joined by a specially converted Nissan Navara, the Primastar will be displayed alongside new Cabstar, an Interstar and a Kubistar, which together form one of the most versatile LCV ranges in the marketplace.

Making its show debut, the Primastar Crew Van incorporates all the best features of the Primastar SE Low Roof van but benefits from three additional seats in the rear offering car-like comfort and performance. Accessible by twin glazed side doors, the rear passenger compartment is separated from the load space by a full bulkhead maximising the vehicle’s carrying capacity for both people and payload – with space for up to 8.4 cubic metres of cargo that can weigh up 1,161kg and extend to 1.9m in length.

Available in short and long wheelbases and utilising the latest 115 HP 2 litre dCi engines, both versions are 2.9t GVW and with extras like power windows and heated mirrors included as standard, together with non-glazed rear doors for added security, the Crew Van is the smarter financial choice for prospective buyers, comparing favourably to its nearest rivals.

Also on display at the NEC will be a Primastar complete with freezer conversion, further emphasising the flexibility of the vehicle. The wood free constructed panelling is made of highly thermal efficient fibreglass and consists of one piece moulded panels for roof, sides and bulkhead. The floor panel is constructed with 75mm upturn to form a leak free bath and there’s a choice of a Freezer (-25°C), or Chiller unit.

A specially created Navara TFT (Transformer Top) complete with gull wing door and internal racking, created by Isle of Wight-based SVP will be on display at the Show. The innovative top was originally designed with utility companies and emergency services in mind. Capable of incorporating amber or emergency blue lights, in a streamlined Perspex recess, the roof is also very aerodynamic improving already impressive fuel economy. Top sealed to the load bed, double skinned reinforced doors and enhanced locking mechanisms confirm the vehicle’s structural integrity. Power supplies for external work lights attached to the side of vehicle are also highlighted.

The New Cabstar Tipper on show features an integrated sub-frame that gives a low loading height. Together with anodised double skin side and top/bottom tailboards, with bolt on rear pillars and head board unit sections, this spec makes the vehicle an ideal load transporter.

Mark Lovett, sales and marketing manager for Nissan Commercial Vehicles, comments on the manufacturer’s attendance at the show saying: “Recent figures from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders show that, despite short term fluctuations, the rolling year's total van and truck registration numbers are still strong compared to the five year average. This reflects the position at Nissan where we have seen exciting year on year growth since we re-launched the brand back into the UK van market.

“The next two years are vital for us if we are to achieve our ambitious growth targets and if the level of current enquiries and our previous experience at this Show are anything to base our assumptions on, we can expect strong interest in the entire Nissan
range whilst we are at the NEC. We’ll have a wide range of models on show, which I’m
