NISSAN UNVEILS FUTURE HEAVY VAN IN A WORLD PREMIERE

AT THE 63rd HANOVER MOTOR SHOW

The Company also announces plans to launch a zero-emissions van in 2013.

Nissan NV200 Evalia completes the line-up of the Van of The Year 2010 award winner.

Nissan today unveiled the all New Nissan NV400 heavy van.  "In front of you is Nissan's response to the customers that need a reliable, efficient and capable van. We present today the NV400 in its quasi-final production version, which offers a distinctive and genuine design", said Gilles Normand, Corporate Vice President, Nissan Motor Co., Ltd, in a press conference held at the 63rd IAA Hanover Motor Show.

Nissan's all new NV400, which will hit the roads of Europe next year, adopts a bold interpretation of Nissan's familiar ‘balanced angle strut' grille giving it assertive on-road presence. Its self-assured, grounded front-side appearance was designed at Nissan Design Europe to accentuate the new van's undoubted strengths.

Nissan zero-emissions van

Underlining the prime importance of the LCV business for Nissan, Normand confirmed plans to launch a zero-emissions small van and revealed for the first time that the launch will happen in 2013.

The launch will serve the large number of customers who need to match the goal of growing their businesses efficiently with their legitimate concerns for the environment. This trend represented by these business operators is invigorated by the policies of a growing number of Governments that are enforcing ever more stringent laws to protect the city centres from smog and noise pollution.

Nissan's LCV growth plans

Talking of Nissan's plans for the future of its LCV business, Gilles Normand said: "Nissan is now a consolidated key global LCV player with sales that have stabilised at well over 500 thousand units also in times of crisis. But we are not content and we plan to become a global leading player with over one million units sold already in fiscal year 2013. In Europe, where Nissan is already the leading Japanese LCV manufacturer, we will reinforce our market position and aim at doubling our market share from the current 2.5% to 5% beyond 2013".

NV200 Evalia

The Hannover Motor Show offered also the opportunity for the presentation of the third variant in the NV200 small van series, the NV200 Evalia. Joining the van and combi versions, the NV200 Evalia is NV200's passenger version, designed for entrepreneurs and families on budget. NV200 Evalia is a car capable of housing seven adults in comfort yet taking up little more road space than a typical family hatchback. Available with either five or seven seats, Evalia has ample room for passengers and their luggage - even the rearmost pair of seats can take adults in comfort. Even with all the seats in place, there's 500 litres of load space available. But with the rear seats folded, that available space rises to a remarkable 2,900 litres. At launch Evalia will be available with a choice of a 1.6-litre petrol engine or a 1.5 dCi diesel. The launch will happen in Germany and Switzerland first. The rest of the European markets will follow. Starting in January 2011, Evalia and all the rest of the NV200 line-up will be available with the potent Nissan 110hp, 1.5 litre dCi diesel engines.

Around View Monitor

Nissan also showcased, for the first time on an NV200, its Around View Monitor (AVM). Several mini cameras mounted on the vehicle allow the driver to have a 360° bird view around the van displayed on the dashboard.

iPhone® applications

On the Nissan stand at the show, visitors can also test two new very useful applications for iPhone®. The first application helps the users locate their van. With the second application, every NV200 customer can download on their iPhone® a comprehensive user manual that replicates the paper version.

Nissan Connect for Cabstar

Also the Cabstar light duty truck will feature Nissan's customer oriented technologies, and is showed at Hannover with the affordable CONNECT navigation system.

In concluding his speech, Normand said: "We have a vision of meeting the business customers' unmet real-life needs. We strive to serve the operators in Europe and in the world with an innovative and smart mindset, and we come with innovations that will change the way people operate their businesses. You can see concrete examples of our efforts around you with NV200 Evalia, NV400 and the advanced technologies presented today".
