FLEET SHOW SIGNALS START OF IMPRESSIVE NEW PRODUCT LAUNCH ROLL-OUT FOR NISSAN

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE27 April 1999

FLEET SHOW SIGNALS START OF IMPRESSIVE NEW PRODUCT LAUNCH ROLL-OUT FOR NISSAN

The 1999 Fleet Show signals the beginning of the most intensive new product launch period in Nissan Motor (GB) Limited history. Over the next 30 months a total of 12 new models will be launched in the UK, starting with the distinctive new Nissan Primera which will be unveiled to a select number of customers during the Fleet Show at the NEC Birmingham.

The launch of the new Nissan Primera marks not only the beginning of a period of intensive new product launch activity, but also indicates a bolder style that will feature across the new Nissan range. The new Primera will benefit from many new design and engineering improvements and, in particular, the addition of a new 1.8-litre engine aimed to appeal to fleet customers.

“The new Nissan Primera represents a new opportunity for fleet customers and the beginning of an exciting product launch programme for Nissan over the next 30 months. This new sporty-elegant design will change the face of Nissan in the fleet sector and we will further increase our appeal with the excellent new 1.8-litre engine. In particular it will enable us to chase more user-chooser business,” said Simon Carr, Director of Fleet Sales, Nissan Motor (GB) Limited.

As well as benefiting from the traditional Nissan hallmarks of class leading quality, durability and outstanding reliability, the new Nissan Primera represents a fresh direction in design giving it a new distinctive and stylish appearance.

Styled at Nissan’s European Technology Centre in Bedfordshire the new Primera benefits from key exterior and interior enhancements.

Also new to the Nissan Primera is a 113PS 1.8-litre 16-valve engine. Designed to appeal to the fleet customer the new engine combines a practical blend of useful performance, frugal economy and low running costs that should further increase the appeal of the Primera in the fleet market.

Among its key strengths the new 1.8-litre engine is very clean and fuel efficient. Not only does it exceed European legislation that will come into effect in 2001 but even more stringent environmental legislation not due until 2005.
