NISSAN LPG CUSTOMERS GET TOP LEVEL

GOVERNMENT CASH-BACK

Nissan is to introduce a new Liquid Petroleum Gas (LPG) dual fuel option to the Primera range, which qualifies for the top level of cash-back for reimbursement of conversion costs under the Government incentive scheme.  Responding to customer demand for cleaner, more environmentally friendly fuels,  ‘dual fuel’ offers the choice of using petrol or LPG and increases the driving range of the Nissan Primera. 

It will be available on the Nissan Primera 2.0 SX five-door model and the Primera 2.0 GX Estate for an additional £1,950* including VAT. 

The Government has organised a scheme called Powershift to incentivise customers to buy alternative fuel vehicles by reimbursing a percentage of the LPG conversion costs.  Under the scheme, the Nissan Primera dual fuel models qualify for the highest level of reimbursement, 75 per cent, which gives customers a refund of £1,462.

The Nissan Primera has recently been added to the Government fleet, the first time in 20 years a new marque has been added to the list. Nissan’s ‘dual fuel’ Primeras have already been chosen by two Government ministers - Joyce Quin MP, Foreign Office Minister and Hilary Armstrong MP, Environment, Transport and Regions Minister.

The Nissan LPG system, “liquefied petroleum injection” (LPi) is highly advanced and uses multi-point liquid injection, rather than the more traditional gaseous injection systems used by other manufacturers.

One of the major benefits of the LPi system is that there is no reduction in driving performance.  The dual fuel Nissan Primera has no reduction in maximum power, torque or top speed when running on LPG.

The table below shows the emissions levels for the 2.0 litre Nissan Primera when run on petrol and LPG fuel.

The LPG fuel in the Nissan Primera is held in a 51-litre “doughnut ring” tank located in the recess of the boot floor.  It does not reduce storage capacity in the boot and the rear seats can still be split and folded to maximise storage capacity as required.  Alternatively, a 70-litre cylindrical tank, which fits behind the rear seats, can be supplied and fitted for an additional £90.

Like all Nissan Primeras, the LPG duel fuel Primera is covered by Nissan Assure, which includes three-year or 60,000-mile mechanical warranty, three-year paint warranty and six-year perforation corrosion protection.  Twelve months roadside assistance – operated in conjunction with the RAC – is also included.

Editor’s notes:

Under the Government’s Powershift incentive scheme, customers will be reimbursed between 25 and 75 per cent of the initial conversion costs depending on the reduction of total hydrocarbons compared to the required standard of 0.5g/km.  The Nissan Primera achieves 0.116g/km.
