NISSAN REVEALS NEW ALMERA SALOON

Nissan is announcing that it will launch a new addition to the new Almera range, the Almera four-door saloon.  When it is launched in spring 2001, this stylish new four-door saloon will complete the Almera range, which includes three- and five-door hatchback versions, which went on sale on 1 March and the new Almera Tino MPV, on sale from August 2000.

Wider and longer than its predecessor, the new Almera four-door saloon will be built on the same global MS platform as the three- and five-door hatchbacks. Designed to suit European tastes, the elegant lines of this new saloon mirror those of the hatchback models.  From the front, the saloon model also displays the strong Nissan corporate identity with the raked back ‘flying wing’ grille that flows into the bonnet and headlamps.  The new Almera four-door saloon will also share many of the interior features of the hatchback models including split-folding rear seats, which add to the vehicle’s practicality.

The new model will share the same engine line-up as the hatchback models – 1.5-litre and 1.8-litre petrol engines and the award-winning 2.2-litre Di turbodiesel.  An automatic option will also be available with the 1.8-litre engine.

Built in Japan, the new Almera four-door saloon will go on sale in the UK in spring 2001.
